BIM

Having quickly recognised the significant benefits that building information modelling (BIM) could bring, Clarkebond were early pioneers of its use.

We now use our considerable experience of BIM/REVIT, honed over many years, in a collaborative environment to deliver efficient and effective buildings.

Our design and modelling software is linked to our BIM workflow enabling us to generate innovative designs backed by identified cost-effective sustainable opportunities and better performing buildings from the outset.

With 3D Revit/3D Civils and Level 2 BIM protocols now the default standard on all our projects throughout our civil and structural engineering teams and across all our offices, the highest quality of project and service delivery is ensured.

BIM is a process that involves creating and using an intelligent 3D model to inform and communicate project decisions.

Design, visualisation, simulation and collaboration using BIM provide greater clarity for all stakeholders not only through the design and construction phases but throughout the life cycle of a building.

Clients know that their completed building, structure or infrastructure can be operated and maintained effectively and efficiently and have all the information at hand to facilitate this.

A building information model contains not only the design of a building but data concerning the properties of its components, its construction and ongoing maintenance.

The database and the way information is shared is as important as the model itself – which means that BIM is not just a technological change, but an overhaul of the whole design process and a transformation to the way project teams work.

Service :

Our experience with BIM has been very positive, and these are just some of the benefits we have experienced:

  • Faster delivery through clear requirements, robust processes and collaboration
  • Reduced conflicts, changes, re-work and clashes.
  • Opportunities for continual improvement through the project lifecycle
  • Cost efficiencies throughout the programme of delivery
  • Increased collaboration enables better stakeholder engagement
  • Increased planning and predictability using information for forward planning and reducing risk through increased predictability
  • Improved decision making through collaboration and access to wider information
  • More sustainable solutions are enabled, reducing waste, energy and carbon
  • Whole life design considers the whole lifecycle of the asset and its intended use
  • Reduced risk as health and safety aspects are considered within the design for onward phases – construction and operations

Clarkebond have BS EN ISO 19650-2 (2018) accreditation.
