Head of Facades

£80,000+ per annum –

We are anticipating providing a salary package in excess of £80,000 for the right candidate

Summary of role:

We seek an ambitious Façade Engineer with a high sense of business acumen, to help us to further develop and lead our Facades offer. 

You will lead and manage our small technical team who already have a wealth of technical expertise, delivering a range of projects from concept feasibility to detailed design and site monitoring. This could suit a candidate who has technical expertise and is now looking to develop into a leadership role.

Duties will include:

You will be responsible for building on our Façade business, through increased sales, sector market penetration and turnover as well as managing the commercial viability of work and providing technical direction. 

You will work closely with the senior management team to develop and expand the Façade business and work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to deliver the quality of service and technical expertise our clients demand. You will be responsible for financial reporting to the senior management team and for preparing and delivering your business plan for Facades.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Appropriate higher level qualifications such as BEng (Hons) Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering and ideally an MSc in Façade Engineering
• Have extensive experience working as a structural façade design engineer and of reviewing technical due diligence reports
• Be commercially astute, able to prepare successful technical and commercial bids, reports, direct and manage projects
• Have a track record of delivering projects to programme and budget
• Have exceptional communication and negotiation skills and able to liaise with clients and other built environment professionals
• Be able to develop, coach and motivate a team and support their professional development
• Have a wide-ranging technical expertise including knowledge of façade structural and thermal calculations, specifications and performance requirements, technical due diligence surveys, reporting on façade defects such as water ingress, spontaneous glass breakage, presence of cavity fire barriers, combustible cladding investigations and replacement etc
• Knowledge of FEA programs including non linear / thermal analysis programs and AutoCAD
