Since graduating with a BEng in Civil Engineering and a BSc in Materials Science from University of New South Wales, Australia, Alfred has gained over 10 years’ experience in assessing & providing specialist materials advice for the built environment whilst working for engineering consultancies in Australia and the UK.
These projects ranged from working at heights from the MLC Centre building, to the confined space of highway culverts, to inspections of bridges and maritime structures from boats, to shopping centre multi-storey car parks, to office and hotel refurbishments and to listed and unlisted historic buildings.
Alfred has experience in examining material deterioration mechanisms for durability assessments, Regent Street Disease assessment & treatment options, durability design & specifications, review of durability requirements of engineering drawings & details for structures along the route for Concept to For Construction design packages, Durability Management Plans (DMP) for major road, rail & water infrastructure and determination of Operations & Maintenance programs.
Alfred is widely involved in conducting various levels of asset condition investigation & assessments including diagnostic testing for reinforced concrete, steel, masonry & timber assets, & recommending suitable & cost-effective rehabilitation repair options.
