Clarkebond has been appointed by Standard Life Investments to provide structural, civil and geotechnical multi-disciplinary engineering services for the Starbucks Pod design within Gateway Retail Park in Beckton. The building design required to allow future adaptation as and when necessary.
Clarkebond has created an internal column free superstructures frame with the portalised system avoids the need for any vertical bracings. Our in-house specialist has completed a detailed Phase 2 ground investigation to facilitate the strategy on the design of substructures foundation.
The new Starbucks unit has been designed in a contemporary, modern yet functional style with high quality robust finishes and structure.
The materials proposed consisted of facing brickwork at plinth level, with cementitious horizontal weatherboard planks and render above, with a composite roofing system which all have a very high rating under the BRE Green Guide.
The full height glazing and brise soleil solar shading allows for natural light to penetrate the main body of the building, reducing the need for artificial light.
The Client brief is to create a new single retail unit to be used as a coffee shop with drive-thru lane. In additional, a clockwise drive thru circulatory road runs around the building with adjacent customer car parking facilities including disabled bays are included as part of the project.
